Our Kids. Our Cases. Meet Kasey.

Posted on July 14th, 2015

kaseyKasey is six. The little girl’s mother left when Kasey was 3, and she lived with her father. He was a drug addict, with a history of childhood abuse. He neglected and abused Kasey, and she entered the foster care system.

Sally, a CASA volunteer, was assigned by Child Advocates to help Kasey. Sally reviewed Kasey’s case file and met with Kasey several times, and Kasey trusted her.

Sally recommended to the judge that Kasey receive counseling to help her deal with the abuse she suffered. She also recommended that Kasey be placed with an aunt, who lived nearby and provided a safe and stable home. The judge used Sally’s recommendations to decide that Kasey would be placed in the home of her aunt and receive counseling.

Because of Sally’s efforts, Kasey is a happy, thriving little girl, free from abuse. Without Sally, Kasey might have had to go through a lengthy and difficult trial. She could have stayed in the foster care system for a long time. She probably would not have received other supportive services, like the counseling that helped her so much through a very traumatic time in her life.

CASA volunteers give a voice to children who so desperately need them. They provide life-saving advocacy to children who are victims of abuse and neglect.

All children are one caring adult away from a success story. Contact us to become a CASA Volunteer today. “To give a child a CASA is to give them a voice. To give them a voice is to give them hope. And to give them hope is to give them the world.”
