Can Your CASA Training Transfer to Different Programs ?

girl and vol on picnic tableWe often have several inquiries about CASA certification and training transfers from other programs. Many of you would like to know if you have been a CASA in another county, can the certification transfer to our program?

We are so happy you’ve considered becoming a CASA in Marion County — and here are some words from Adrienne Reed, Volunteer Program Director, to answer your question!

“Unfortunately CASA certifications do not transfer from program to program, and definitely not from state to state.  Primarily due to the fact that each state operates under their own laws and programs are often guided by their local courts.  I may be able to have a participate audit a class or two if they completed the CASA training in Indiana and I’m able to see their curriculum, but for the majority of the time, the participants end up having to redo the classes. Each county/program is unique, so the training classes are specific to that region/program.”

This information should be helpful to you on your journey to becoming a CASA volunteer in Marion County.

We’re looking forward to meeting you!
