Our Kids. Our cases. Meet Sasha.
Posted on July 19th, 2016
The following story is true; though names and specific details have been altered in order protect the privacy of our children.
Every day in Marion County more than 10 children are victims of abuse and neglect. These are their stories.
Sasha is not your average 14 year old girl. Sasha’s days are spent more like an adult than a teenager. Her parents have both abandoned her and continue to place the blame on one another for not parenting her properly. Neither accepts responsibility for her. For the past couple of weeks, she has been residing with a young relative.
Sasha has a physical disability. Her father continues to collect her disability check and keeps the money. Sasha is currently working full time in order to support herself and is also trying to maintain good grades at school.
Sasha has been having suicidal thoughts. She is an honor student and is currently at risk of failing all of her classes.
