The People’s Poem: Lisa Teague’s Words of Support

With each child’s birth comes a belief that he will be the one,
to carry out the hopes and dreams of fathers for their sons.
A brand, new life provides a chance to reaffirm what’s right,
piercing this world’s darkness with a little light.
There are those born in squalor with hardships as their lot,
but each deserves a chance to show the talent he has got.
Don’t turn a blind eye to the child who doesn’t look like you,
some have found joy in raising those of a different hue.
Those “challenged” in their bodies and perception of their minds,
make us more grateful for our lives; of this they do remind.
Don’t fall prey to skeptics who only read profiles.
Be the one who plainly sees the value of each child.
