A Holiday Story Worth Sharing

I want to thank you for your support on behalf of our mission and agency in 2017. Your dedication to children in Indianapolis has touched many lives, one of which I was fortunate enough to encounter.

Last week, I was in one of my favorite restaurants for breakfast and my usual waitress was so excited to see me because she had a story to tell me.

Tracy, the waitress, told me she was serving what she thought was a grandfather with his 3 year old granddaughter. The little girl was decked out in Christmas colors. Tracy asked her if she had been good for Santa and what she was hoping Santa would bring. This little girl told her, “Santa is bringing me a mom and a dad so I will have a home.”

At this point, Tracy had to excuse herself because she was tearing up. When she returned, she learned that the little girl was one of the children represented by Child Advocates, the man was her foster father, and she was soon to live with her adoptive parents. What a gift to yearn for and receive – a home.

In that spirit, I thank you for all you have done to help Child Advocates this year. You have made a difference in the lives of children in our community.
